Key points to be aware of
IMPORTANT INFORMATION

⚠️ You must ensure that all your travel arrangements are 100 per cent changeable and refundable

At sea, the wind and maritime conditions dictate the schedule. For your train and flight tickets, or your hotel stays before and after the crossing, you must ensure you book tickets that can be changed or cancelled free of charge, allowing plenty of flexibility.

Conditions for boarding

Each passenger must present a duly completed medical fitness certificate in order to be permitted to board.

This document is required by the shipping company NEOLINE.

Mandatory validity requirements:

  • Signature and initials: For the certificate to be valid, the doctor must sign the last page AND initial all pages. This ensures that they have taken note of all the specific details and conditions of the journey.
  • Validity period: The certificate must be dated within 30 days of departure.
  • On the day of travel: Remember to keep the original paper copy with you. Although it is usually submitted in advance, the crew may ask to see it when you board.

MANDATORY

All passengers must take out comprehensive travel insurance covering the entire crossing.

You may take out a policy with the provider of your choice. To be accepted by the company, your insurance certificate must explicitly state the following cover:

  • 24-hour, 7-day-a-week assistance.
  • Medical repatriation.
  • Cover for medical expenses abroad (particularly for destinations outside Europe or overseas territories, depending on your itinerary).

We offer cover through our partner Gritchen, which is ideal and straightforward for European nationals (€10 to €30 depending on your ticket).

This all-in-one package provides the minimum cover required to travel with peace of mind.

OPTIONAL

Available as an optional extra through our partner, cancellation insurance protects you and reimburses your costs (€50 to €80 depending on your ticket) if you have to cancel your trip before departure for unforeseen and valid reasons:

  • Serious illness, accident or death (of yourself or a close relative)
  • Serious damage to your home or theft of your identity documents
  • Unforeseen professional or administrative obligations (loss of employment, legal summons, etc.)
  • Pregnancy complications or events of force majeure.

Each passenger must also complete and sign a liability waiver before departure.

UNITED STATES:

NEOLINE is a participant in the Visa Waiver Programme.
This programme allows citizens of partner countries to travel to the United States without a visa for up to 90 days.

FRANCE / EU:

New procedures apply to travellers entering or leaving the European Union, notably with the introduction of the ETIAS system, which will come into effect by the end of 2026. In the meantime, only the Entry/Exit System (EES) applies.

Each passenger is responsible for checking and completing these formalities before departure.
